Two men charged after fatal stabbing in St Thomas

March 16, 2026

A heated argument at a late-night event in the Fort district of St Thomas ended in tragedy last month, and police have now charged two men for the fatal stabbing of Eaton Whittle.

Charged with murder are 45-year-old Dwayne Capleton, otherwise called 'Tall Man', of Lyssons, and 41-year-old entertainer Oneil Stewart of Fort district.

Investigators say the charges were laid after the men were identified during an identification parade conducted last week.

Police reports indicate that about 1:30 a.m. on February 18, Whittle and the two accused were among patrons attending an event when a verbal dispute reportedly erupted.

The situation quickly escalated, and detectives say Whittle was stabbed in the chest and back during the confrontation.

Investigators further allege that the knife used in the attack was passed between the two accused men before the stabbing.

Following the incident, the two men reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Whittle was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital by a passing motorist but was later pronounced dead.

Capleton and Stewart are scheduled to appear before the court on March 24.

Police say Whittle's killing is the third murder recorded in St Thomas since the start of the year, noting that suspects have been held in all three incidents.
