Easy pickings in first four Reggae 6 events

SATURDAY's Reggae 6 payout of $55,393, despite being stacked with five winning favourites, showed exactly how a market-springer, especially a first-time runner, can derail form readers.

ALIYA'S WILL, a 6-1 morning-line debutante in the fifth for maiden three-year-old fillies, won as a 7-2 market-springer at five furlongs round with hot lightweight claiming rider Tajay Suckoo, collaring 1-5 favourite SKY IS THE LIMIT close home in the fifth.

ALIYA'S WILL was the Reggae 6's longest shot amid five winning favourites, BALLISTIC MISSILE (6-5), STORM (3-5), PAPI USO (4-5), OF A REVOLUTION (1-2) and

RESTORATION won the sixth at 9-5.

This Saturday's Reggae 6 appears pretty straightforward for the first four events before things get sticky in races five and six.

Open with two selections, first-timer CONTROL AGRESSION and PRINCE ZAYDEN, who lost to a debutante, TREASURE ISLES, last time out.

CONTROL AGRESSION's dam, Breath of Life, has Deputy Minister's blood running through her veins. Her sire, Strikewhileitshot, tends to throw pacers such as 2019 Derby runner-up Sentient, explaining trainer Donovan Russell debuting her at a mile.

ROCK OLA is a potential banker in the second but SUCCESSFUL MAN could be dangerous from a clean break at seven furlongs after getting within touching distance as runner-up and third-place finishers, respectively, in their last two meetings.

Jason DaCosta's American first-timer, THE TEACHA, has been keeping pace with grade-one stablemate FUNCAANDUN in the mornings, making him tough to beat at five and a half furlongs in the third.

Allow Peter-John Parsard's pair of first-timers, SWASH BUCKLER and AWESOME STAR, to separate themselves on the track, not Reggae 6 bets placed off exercise reports showing both horses galloping well in the mornings.

The fifth and sixth are minefields in which nothing should be left to chance. Use multiple selections at will for both races, focusing on early speed.
