No goal again in Mt Pleasant, Treasure Beach clash

February 12, 2026

In 180+ minutes of football, Caribbean Cup champions Mount Pleasant Academy and Treasure Beach still have not found a way to separate themselves, and furthermore, the two Jamaica Premier League (JPL) teams have not found a way to score in their football matchups.

They contested a rescheduled JPL game yesterday at Drax Hall Sports Complex in St Ann, which presented the perfect opportunity for Mount Pleasant to jump second on the table. However, they failed to convert their chances in a tightly contested encounter.

The 0-0 result pushed Mount Pleasant back in fourth place on 38 points, while Treasure Beach remain 12th on 22 points. League leaders Montego Bay United sit on 46 points, while Racing United and Portmore United are tied in second on 39 points, with Racing ahead on goal difference.

Mount Pleasant's Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore said it was another disappointing result.

"I think we were flat and didn't play the type of football that Mount Pleasant is accustomed to. Our decision making for the last two games (wasn't good). The only good thing I think I can speak of in the game is keeping a clean sheet," said Whitmore.

"We didn't play like a team who wanted to win. I think we diverted from our game model. We just have to get back on the training pitch and get them up and running, forget about this and look forward to the next one," he added.

Meanwhile, Kemar Ricketts, Treasure Beach's head coach, acknowledged that it was a difficult game.

"It was a hard fought game and we welcome the point. The team did well in the two legs against Mount Pleasant. This is something we want to continue doing and that is to remain consistent. The character that was showed, it was brilliant," said Ricketts.

"We're just trying to get some momentum going forward. Despite not scoring, the team showed discipline and was excellent. They executed the plan really well," added Ricketts.
